Tai Chi Chuan
Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese martial art that has been translated as meaning “Supreme Ultimate Exercise”. It is an internal martial art which means that it is practiced slowly, without tension in the muscles or mind and with the use of mind intent. Focus on the basic principles in all styles of Tai Chi Chuan, such as aligned spine, is of the utmost importance. There are many styles of Tai Chi with Yang, Wu and Chen being the most common. Even though Tai Chi Chuan was originally practiced solely as a martial art, it is now also practiced for the numerous health benefits it provides. The graceful, circular and flowing movements aid in harmonizing the two universal energies (yin and yang) and in generating and circulating chi energy throughout the body.
